Guidelines

The Minister may grant Major Project Facilitation (MPF) status for suitable projects demonstrating the Australian Government’s support for major and/or strategic new investment.

MPF status offers potential investors the following benefits:

  1. Written documentation from the Minister conferring the Australian Government’s MPF status on the project.
  2. A central contact point in the Australian Government.
  3. Tailored and individually managed facilitation services to address the nature and complexity of the project and improve the proponent's familiarity with the Australian business environment. Services may include:
    • access to capable and competitive Australian suppliers
    • obtaining decisions on necessary Government approvals as administered under Australian Government legislation
    • referrals
    • guidance and
    • contacts with relevant Australian Government agencies for various assistance programs.
  4. Facilitation of relationships between the proponent, key Australian, state and territory government agencies involved in the approvals processes including liaison between the Minister, the Prime Minister of Australia, and relevant ministerial colleagues.
  5. The ability to respond to specific impediments or policy issues raised during the approvals process or during project development, and drawing the issues to the attention of relevant policy areas within Australian Government.
